Drown in honey
Laughter thick and friendly fire
Handing me the tower key
Climbing spiral stone in hurry
View of river into sea
Currents quickly take me under
Above, I see shadows of birds
Many poets write a drowning
I am left with sense, not words
Honey, what I’ve always needed
Syllables get stuck in teeth
Sticky suffocating sugar
Will you tell them I was sweet?
